Name: African Fan
This piece has a truly striking top. The top is Bookmatched Pommel Sapele. Sapele is an African wood that is usually very straight grained, but “once in a blue moon” there will be some wild grain. Pommel refers to the grain pattern which is full of small swirls. It is somewhat like curly wood, but the curls are very small. The back is Figured Bookmatched Walnut and the frame is Black Walnut. The inlaid “Fan” is Ebony and the Binding and inlay around the soundhole are Holly.
