This Signature Series Plucked Psaltery has a highly unusual Curly Ambrosia Maple Top, a Curly Walnut Back and a Black Walnut Frame. A word about the top – Ambrosia Maple comes from a tree into which the small Ambrosia Beetle has bored. The beetle spreads a benign fungus that colors the wood with different hues. Most Ambrosia Maple that you will see has small streaks of various hues of color. This piece is unusual in that it has a wide band of variously hued wood. What REALLY makes this unusual is that this wide band of color is that this wood is also VERY CURLY. Look at the piece carefully and you will see the “curls or ripples” in the grain pattern. This is the only piece of wood that I have Ever found like this. I was able to get several slices for tops, but when that material is gone, it is gone and I cannot make any more pieces similar to this.
Price $249 (+$20 S/H) Please call or e-mail me if you are interested in purchasing this piece.
